Why does the young prince on the pony look so sad?

As travelling in Turkey you might come across these shops which look like carnival shops with a certain preference for glitter, white and silver garment and prince-costumes. They sell costumes in children-sizes, ornaments and a lot of small stuff for a crazy glittery festivity.

What is this festivity?

Young boys dress up as little princes and they are going to be taken on a pony or a horse through the city while family and friends cheer, shout and dance as a crowd around him.

It is his circumcision.

Maybe this is why the little boy on the pony preferred not to smile, opposed to the crowd around him.
